Sponsorship Funds:

Help FNINR meet its mission of providing resources to support nursing research and advance the mission of the NINR. FNINR supports research-based nursing practice by educating nursing professionals and the public about the advances made through nursing research and its benefits to patients, families, the community, and the delivery of health care. In 2004, the video Nurse Scientists: Committed to the Public Trust was produced through the support of Johnson & Johnson and features ten prominent nurse researchers and shows them in action and demonstrates the impact of their research. In 2008, Eli Lilly funded a film focusing on mental health nursing research.

The Friends focuses on effective communication of findings of nurse scientists to inform all clinical stakeholders of the knowledge base that exists for making improvements in quality of care and patient safety in a wide spectrum of clinical practice settings. Financial support is given to the NINR Director's Fund and will be used to develop a variety of communication strategies in collaboration with NINR to inform the clinical communities, as well as the public at large, about the importance of nursing research.

Awards:

The NightinGala features awards to distinguished nurse investigators. In recognition of new achievements of integration in health care research and practice, in 2008 FNINR bestowed a new award, the President's Award in addition to the Ada Sue Hinshaw and Pathfinder Awards.

The Ada Sue Hinshaw Research Grant is funded by FNINR in honor of Ada Sue Hinshaw, PhD, RN, FAAN, the first permanent Director of the National Institute of Nursing Research. This award is an unrestricted grant to support the work of a promising and accomplished nurse researcher. This grant focuses on the significance of nursing research and the contributions made by nurse scientists that improve health care.

The Pathfinder Award is given by FNINR to acknowledge a nurse researcher whose work has focused on advancing deep understanding of human health and health care, and has been sustained by multiple grants from NINR/NCNR.

The President's Award in 2011 was an unrestricted grant supporting the work of a nurse researcher whose sustained research is in the area of health behavior intervention research. The research topic for 2012 will be announced shortly.
